Have you ever wondered what happened to this person, that person, why did someone do or even say that and so on? I have had so many questions.

I always wondered why Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus yet they walked hand in hand. Leading into this devotion, I have been studying the book of John in the Bible and I received this revelation.

For a long time Judas was not faithful in his works, he stole from the ministry. We read this in John chapter 12; Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair. (What an act of worship!)

Judas said, “why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denaril and given to the poor.” This he said, not because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and he had the money box; and used to take what was put in it.

In the events that led to the crucifixion, Satan entered Judas and used him to betray his Master, Jesus. Judas had an open door of sin in his life.

All Christians are called to live in the righteousness of God. We are also called to be sober-minded; be watchful for our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking for whom to devour.

And like the devil entered Judas, we could be culprits too when we act contrary to the word of God. There might be open doors in your life that need closing; could be a habit, words that you use, actions or anything that doesn’t manifest the love of Christ in you.

The enemy uses those areas as a door to cause destruction in families, marriages, relationships, churches, work places, etc. (for the thief/devil came to steal, kill and destroy)

What is it that you are struggling with? Bring it to LORD in prayer and repentance; ask Him to show you the doors in your life that need closing and to help you walk in His righteousness.

Let God make His home with you. As Jesus said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep my word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” John 14:23

Dear God, abide in me; forgive my trespass and help me recognize doors that need closing in my life. Transform me daily so that I can walk in Your righteousness.

I love you God. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
